Vaginal dryness, also known as vulvovaginal atrophy, is a very common problem that affects more than half of women after menopause. With this condition, vaginal tissues become thinner, less lubricated and elastic as a result of the natural decline in the body’s estrogen levels during menopause.

Whether women are sexually active or not, vaginal dryness can affect everyday life making in some cases uncomfortable to sit, stand, exercise, urinate or even work.

Recently, results of a study conducted on Respecta® Hydra gel, a new topical medical device developed by Giellepi Health Science to address effectively vaginal dryness were published by Gels, an international, peer-reviewed, journal. The study performed on a reconstituted human vaginal epithelium in a model mimicking the dryness and transient inflammation condition confirmed the effectiveness of Respecta® Hydra Gel in:

  • favoring a positive water balance within the vaginal epithelium
  • inducing deep hydration and elasticity of the vaginal mucosa
  • restoring the vaginal mucosa tropism and barrier
