Overview
Healthy and flexible joints are essential to an active lifestyle for consumers of all ages. Traditionally, glucosamine and chondroitin have been the only solution for targeting joint health; however, the benefit of using these compounds remains questionable at least in subjects not affected by degenerative joint disease like osteoarthritis (Zhu et al. Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research (2018) 13:170). In addition to reducing daily aches and pains, at the same time, everyday people are looking to increase their muscle recovery rate following physical exercise, whether it be through protein, creatine, or other amino acids. In fact, exercise may cause transient stress to muscles and joints resulting in discomfort, stiffness and pain that can increase with age.

At Giellepi, with Axtragyl® we found in nature the answer for those modern consumers who want to stay mobile and live their life to the fullest. Axtragyl®, a botanical ingredient extracted from the root of Astragalus membranaceus native to Northern China where it still grows wild today, is designed to ease joint and muscle discomfort allowing greater mobility.

Preclinical evidence

A characterization study confirmed the broad spectrum of active compounds found in Axtragyl® and its bioactivity (Santoro et al. 2020).

In two different preclinical animal models of joint injury, Axtragyl® was found to maintain joint health relieving pain sensitivity and supporting morphological recovery of the joint thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune-modulating properties (Maresca et al. 2017).

Less pain following 14-day supplementation
